abridged Emergency Response Driving Course (5-day, foundation)
In 2018, Bespoke Driver Training (now known as How to Drive) introduced a graduated approach to emergency response driving training for all blue light users.
With the needs of the voluntary and private sectors in mind, we introduced a new, pragmatic, universal minimum standard for all blue light users, called ‘Foundation’. Two other levels (‘Standard’ and ‘Advanced’ respectively) complete our graduated approach to the training and certification of emergency drivers.
Foundation level training – a universal minimum standard for all drivers responding urgently to emergencies – is geared-up especially to part-time volunteers. Delivered on our recommended 2-to-1 participant-to-trainer ratio, participants’ commonly demonstrate the Foundation level of competence after courses with us totalling five days of behind-the-wheel (BTW) on-road training.
You will find further information on our graduated approach to the training and certification of emergency drivers here.
We promote the delivery of emergency response driving courses (ERDCs) on a 2-to-1 participant-to-trainer ratio. A 5-day abridged ERDC that runs from our Worcestershire HQ in clients’ own blues & twos-equipped vehicles costs £875 per participant. Let us know if you would like us to deliver training from your premises – wherever they are – and we will quote accordingly.
